May - September, 2023
Introducing Adrian Schachter(@adrianschachter), who will be working in 99 Canal’s STUDIO 1 to conceptualize and produce works for his upcoming solo show at Amanita, New York in April 2024. For his exhibition, Schachter will focus on his therapeutic drawings while experimenting with innovative surfaces and materials to explore the physicality of painting.
Adrian Schachter (b.1996, NYC) is a contemporary visual artist who focuses on researching mythology, obscure phenomena, and anomalies to challenge the notion of absolute truth beyond the boundaries of conventional reality. As such, he is particularly interested in the Medieval world, a period when religious and esoteric beliefs overshadowed the influence of science.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools have been central to Schachter’s creative process for over two years, enabling him to explore further the process of unconventionally gathering and understanding information. While embracing new technologies, Schachter upholds the integrity of his craft by referencing and drawing inspiration from history.
Schachter holds a BFA from the School of Visual Arts (SVA) with honors, New York, NY, and has shown in numerous shows internationally since 2016 in: Paris, Shanghai, London, LA, and New York.

Studio Program | 99 Canal
The Studio Program is a one to three-month opportunity for emerging and mid-career artists based both within and outside New York City.
Collaborating with artists, galleries, and institutions, our selection process draws on the insights of the local creative community to ensure a continuously diverse and vibrant studio cohort.
The program initially launched in 2022 as a response to the lack of affordable spaces in Manhattan and provides access to an intimate and context-specific environment to work in.
